Domestic workers robbed by men with Covid masks

Three domestic workers were held up with knives and a baseball bat this morning in Jeppe Street (Mineralia, Middelburg).

According to the one woman (who wants to stay anonymous) she and a friend walked down Jeppe Street on their way to work when they were passed by another domestic worker. The next moment a metallic blue VW Polo (registration number BFS124GP) stopped next to them. “There were three men in their early thirties in the vehicle. All of them wore Covid-19 masks.” She said two of the robbers had knives with them and the third one, also the driver of the vehicle, had a baseball bat. The one robber grabbed her phone, but just looked at it, threw it on the ground and told her to get a new phone. She remembers that they also took the bag of her friend, but did not want her phone. They took the bag of the woman who passed them, robbed her from her phone and cash, jumped in the vehicle and sped off. The women were not injured. • The same vehicle was seen in Laver Street later this morning.
