Man kidnapped from Doornkop

A man claims that he was robbed and kidnapped from his grandmother’s residence in Doornkop.

Capt. Khanyisile Zwane, Middelburg police spokesperson, said the victim claims that he was at his grandmother’s house in Doornkop. He approached a black Volkswagen Polo and asked if the driver could take him to the Keerom smallholdings.

The victim claims that instead of his chosen destination, he was taken to a place called Maleunini on the Stoffberg Road where he was locked in a shack. His wallet containing R300 cash was taken from him.

According to the victim he managed to escape his captors and flee to a nearby house where he called for his uncle to come and fetch him.

Capt. Zwane said that no one was injured and that no arrests have been made.
