Three suspects escape from police cells

The police in Zaaiplaas, outside Groblersdal, launched a massive manhunt for three suspects that escaped from their cells on Saturday, 5 September.

The escapees were identified as Dingaan Mtshwene (35), who was arrested for rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances, Mahlatse David Sithole (32), who was arrested for rape and Vusi John Mabona (33), who was arrested for murder and rape.

The escapees allegedly escaped when the police were doing their routine services in the cells.

The police pursued the escapees and managed to re-arrest Mtshwene.

According to Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the circumstances surrounding their escape are still being investigated.
The manhunt for the remaining two escapees is still underway.
