Dennesig water gushes despite interruption notification for Wednesday
Dennesig residents were pleasantly surprised when their water supply were not interrupted on Wednesday, despite the municipality notifying residents of an interruption between 06:30 and 18:00 for the connection of the newly installed PVC pipeline.
The notice informed residents that the water supply would be interrupted in order for the municipality to connect the new PVC bulk water line to the residential lines in Melrose- and Hertzog Streets.
Residents took the necessary precautions by filling containers, basins and tubs.
The interruption however never occurred.
Www.mobserver.co.za was told that the connections would be done by the end of October.
Dolly Construction has been contracted to complete the pipe replacements.
A tender of R500 000 has been awarded to the contractor.
The project should have been completed by the end of August, but workers on the ground said they awaited materials from the municipality to complete the job.
The municipality denies a shortage of materials.
According to Municipal Manager Mr Bheki Khenisa the newly installed pipes will be connected by October 30.
