Diesel spill in Kranspoort after combine harvester overturns

A diesel spill is currently polluting natural water sources in the Loskop farming community after a combine harvester overturned in the Kranspoort pass.

Vice chairman of the rural Middelburg CPF, and Loskop resident, Mr. Helgaardt Müller, confirmed that the accident occurred at around 08:25.

Residents have reported that the combine is leaking fuel into the nearby streams.

The combine is currently still on scene and residents are unsure of when the vehicle will be removed from the pass. Mr. Müller told www.mobserver.co.za that he doesn’t believe the pass will be closed for vehicle recovery, but that motorists should approach the area with caution.
