Thushanang Cash Loans robbed with toy gun

A thrifty criminal armed with a toy gun, snatched a bag of cash from an unsuspecting employee of Thushanang Cash Loans early this morning.

The attempted robbery took place at around 08:00 at the Nedbank Centre in OR Tambo Street.

The swift response of a helpful bystander, foiled the criminal’s attempt, when a man set after the thief.

The criminal later discarded his loot and the toy gun, in a desperate attempt to avoid capture.

In a desperate attempt to get away, the robber discarded his loot as well as the gun, which was later found to be fake by authorities who responded to the scene.

Video footage shows how the employee enters the business, carrying the day’s cash. The robber follows her into the store and grabs the money, as bystanders chase after him.

•The owner of Thushanang Cash Loans was approached by www.mobserver.co.za, but declined to give comment.
