A video taken off a security camera from a nearby house, shows a white Mercedes Benz travelling at a high speed in Samora Machell Street in the direction of the Middelburg Mall.

The car hit a bakkie at the stop sign where Chapmans Peak crosses Samora Machell Street. The wreckages came to a halt almost 50 metres from the point of impact.

The driver of the bakkie was killed, with the bakkie ending up on its roof whilst a passenger in the Mercedes was critically injured and the driver sustained less serious injuries. Both were transported to hospital.

Police are busy investigating. The name of the deceased has not been made public yet.

The massive accident scene was secured with the help of the Community Policing Forum.
