The accident occurred just after 21:00 on Saturday night after a Mercedes Benz, travelling at high speed, skipped a stop street and collided with a bakkie.

The driver of the bakkie was killed on impact whilst a passenger in the Mercedes were taken to hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.

Eyewitnesses, who was attending a party nearby in Extension 18, said that the bakkie flew through the air and “hopped like a ball” on impact with the ground before coming to a standstill.

It has since been learned that the passenger of the Mercedes has also passed away.

None of the accident victims have been identified at this stage.
