Road to Arnot blocked

Motorists are warned that the road to Arnot is completely blocked due to protest action.

Although it is not sure what the protest is about, reports have been received that at least three loads of coal have been dumped on the road, blocking the entrance to Arnot and the power station altogether.

At this stage motorists traveling from Hendrina to the N4 via the Arnot offramp, seems to be allowed through although the situation can change at any time.

Unconfirmed information has it that the protest is linked to retrenchments at one of the subcontractors to Eskom at the power station.

• Protest action has also been reported on the N4 between Mathews Phosa and Kromdraai intersections in eMalahleni. TRAC tweeted at around 08:45 that the road was closed.
