Covid-19 can’t keep Mayor Tolo down

Mayor Bagudi Tolo is still in hospital recovering from Covid-19 after contracting the deadly virus in December.

Mayor Tolo is still on oxygen treatment despite doctors hoping to wean Middelburg’s first citizen off constant oxygen treatment last Friday.

He has, however, maintained gradual signs of improvement throughout his hospital stay after being admitted to Life Midmed over a fortnight ago.

He’s been in hospital for over two weeks.

Last week, www.mobserver.co.za had to dispel rumours that the mayor had passed away, after news of his death went viral on social media.

The misinformation spread rapidly after family and friends of the Tolo household took to social media to share their condolences over a loss within the family.

It was, in fact, a close family member of Mayor Tolo who had passed, resulting in some members of the public wrongfully assuming that the mayor had succumbed.
Mayor Tolo is in high spirits and has expressed his sincere gratitude to the health professionals overseeing his hospital stay.

The mayor is in contact with municipal officials and the municipality wishes him a speedy recovery alongside the community of Middelburg.

Mayor Tolo has always been a vocal advocate of social distancing guidelines, often venturing into the public himself to distribute pamphlets and PPE to the community.

Mayor Tolo urges the public to adhere to lockdown restrictions and to stay home if possible.
