Contractors were busy with maintenance to the light when it fell over and landed on top of a house.

The pole also crashed on to the garage roof tiles, which in turn came crashing down on to the vehicle inside the garage, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

Mr Mandala Mathibela said he was watching television when he heard a loud bang come from his garage, to his surprise, he found the street light on top of his garage and broken tiles on top of his bakkie, “My wife and children are still in shock,” Mr Mathibela said.

No injuries were reported.
