‘Soccer team’ could be helpful in search for missing blonde

Both the Belfast and Middelburg SAPS are pleading ignorance in regards to the woman who was assaulted and kidnapped close to the Alzu Petroport on the N4 yesterday around 11:00.

Both Belfast and Middelburg stations confirmed that no missing person cases have been reported and that no formal complaint has been received. Due to the lack of formal complaints, neither stations have joined the search for the woman or the green Golf.

An eyewitness, Mr Rudi Combrink, says he witnessed the woman with long blonde hair, being dragged from the passenger side of a green VW Golf by the hair, before being brutally assaulted and thrown into the back of the car. A white bakkie was also spotted on the scene.

The bakkie and Golf sped off towards Middelburg where it disappeared around the Arnot turnoff.

A green Golf and bakkie were later spotted in Mandela Drive, while reports of another green Golf without registration plates and four male passengers was reported at Midwater Centre.

According to Mr Combrink, he drove to Alzu where he raised the alarm before returning to the spot where the woman was being assaulted.

“There was a number of men dressed the same at Alzu who also rushed to the scene of the commotion which was out of Alzu’s security camera range,” Mr Combrink says.

The kidnappers sped off when a soccer team, which Mr Combrink believes the men to be part of, rushed to the scene of the attack.

On Wednesday, www.mobserver.co.za received a call from a business owner in Belfast who said that workers reported a suspicious green Golf without number plates in the township around Glisa Mine parked at a house since Sunday. The Golf has not been seen since yesterday’s unexplained assault and kidnapping.

Meanwhile the search for the woman remains focused around Machadodorp, Belfast, Carolina and Hendrina. The Belfast tipster says the township’s exit routes connect with all the above mentioned towns, as well as Stoffberg towards Steelpoort.

Afriforum’s Middelburg, Belfast and Carolina neighbourhood watches launched a search around the towns till around 23:00 last night. The search continued this morning.

The Sector 3 radio group did their own search till around 22:00 last night, continuing today. Both police stations have called for more information to launch investigations.

The stations have also appealed to the group of men that ran to assist the woman, to contact them with information.

Safety groups in Nelspruit, like the highly successful community anti-crime organization Bossie’s Justice, have also joined the search.

It has also been confirmed that the 19-year old woman gone missing from Waterval Boven since Sunday (photo), was probably not the kidnapped blonde.

Alicia Viljoen left her Waterval Boven home to travel to Pretoria on Sunday and has not been heard from since.

She’s a brunette and according to her mother they had received an SMS informing them Alicia won’t be returning to Waterval Boven where she moved three years ago.

“We’re extremely worried,” her mum told www.mobserver.co.za.

• People with information should please contact their nearest police stations.
