Member of Middelburg SAPS killed in crash on old Witbank road

A well known local police captain was killed in a collision on the old Witbank road a short while ago.

The captain cannot be identified until his next of kin has been notified of his passing.

According to Captain Khanyisile Zwane, Middelburg SAPS spokesperson, the police vehicle was occupied by another police officer as well as a prisoner in transit. Both occupants were critically injured and rushed to Life Midmed Hospital.

The driver of the minibus with which the police vehicle collided was not seriously injured.

The accident occurred a short while ago.

Traffic is moving very slowly and motorists are advised to approach the scene with caution. Only the two vehicles was involved in the crash.
