Loskop plathond sien jou dalk as warmbrak

Mense wat gedink het daar is nie krokodille in Loskopdam nie, daar is!

Videomateriaal is versprei, wat wys hoe ’n jong krok tot by ’n boot swem, tydens die naweek se kurper kompetisie.

Die gewilde hengelbestemming het lanklaas ’n krokodil gesien, nadat sowat 80% van die krokodil populasie in 2005 uitgesterf het.

Daar was in vroeg in Februarie 37 krokodille deur die Mpumalanga Toerisme en Parke Agentskap, in Loskop vrygelaat.

Al die krokodille is jonk gewees, met die grootste een wat 1.8 meter lank was.

Die doel van die projek is om die Loskopdam se krokodil populasie te hervestig.

Na die massavrektes in 2005, het studies bepaal dat pansteatitus, ’n siekte weens waterbesoedeling, die oorsaak was vir die massa vrektes.

•Die krokodille is deur MTPA gemerk met nommers en ’n datavel, om hulle gedragspatrone te monitor, die krokodil op die video het ’n merker op sy stert.
