House robbery victim assaulted with firearm
The victim of a house robbery in Bloedrivier Street, Aerorand, was assaulted with a firearm, leaving him with multiple head and mouth injuries.
According to Captain Khanyisile Zwane, Middelburg Police Spokesperson, the incident happened in Bloedrivier Street at about 00:30 on Tuesday.
The complainant told the police that he was sleeping in his bedroom with his wife when he heard an unknown man saying ‘keep quiet’ to his wife.
When he opened his eyes he saw a man pointing a firearm at his wife. He also heard his daughter screaming from her bedroom.
Two unknown men dragged his daughter to his bedroom before they tied the victims’ legs and arms with shoelaces.
The suspects demanded the victim’s firearm, when he told them that he didn’t have a firearm they assaulted him with a firearm, leaving him with multiple head and mouth injuries.
Soon thereafter, the men began raiding the house.
The victim said he managed to press the alarm’s panic button.
When the alarm went off, the suspects jumped over the electric fence leaving behind their stolen loot.
A TV was found on the ground near the fence.
The victim was transported to Life MidMed Hospital by ER24 paramedics. A house robbery and assault with grievous bodily harm case was opened with the Middelburg Police.
No arrests have been made yet.
