World-beating Mato Conveyor Fasteners and Cleaners
As South Africa’s sole manufacturer of mechanical conveyor belt fastening systems, MATO boasts the only MATO clip machine in operation outside of Germany.
It is also a leader in the supply of primary and secondary belt cleaners.
A Multotec Group company, MATO is located in Spartan, east of Johannesburg, within easy reach of the Mpumalanga coal fields. It supplies its extensive range of belt products well beyond, however, and into the rest of Africa. Products in the range are an industry standard in global mineral processing operations, where they provide reliable, efficient and safe conveyor belt solutions in some of the toughest mineral applications.

The MATO range includes lacing systems, one-way and two-way belt cutters, belt clamps, belt cleaners and other belt accessories.
The MATO MCP3-S primary belt cleaner, for instance, is installed at the head pulley, and is designed to be an aggressive head pulley cleaner without affecting the conveyor belt surface. It is available in various different polyurethane grades. Benefits include a high level of cleaning due to the specialised blade shape, and ideal dimensions for a range of belt widths. It is well-suited for belts with mechanical splices, and has self-adjusting blades.

The MATO MCP3-S can be clamped using spring tension and screw mounting methods, with the spring tension set to 80 mm to eliminate the need for readjustment. This ensures the blade is in constant contact with the belt for the life of the blade.
MATO’s MUS2 series of secondary belt cleaners are recommended for stubborn dirt removal, featuring the arc-shaped squeegee. It uses the unique M-TRAK slide – designed to eliminate long maintenance downtimes – on the cushion and blade for easy installation and maintenance.

The fastener-friendly MATO diagonal cleaner range for underground and plant conveyors is ideal for the protection of tail or return pulleys. It comes with a self-adjusting system that is designed for fast and easy blade changes. Installed on the return belt before any major pulley, it reduces pulley damage and material build-up causing belt tracking issues. Installation set-up is at 45° across the belt, and it can be installed left-handed or right-handed.
