Vandals strike at Kanonkop residence

Members of the Noodgroep Radiogroep Sector 4 responded to an incident of vandalism last night after a home in Kanonkop was targeted.

According to the radio group member, Jacob Louw, their sector was alerted at 22:15 last night in Lilian Ngoyi Street, after residents heard a group of people walking down the street yelling, followed by a loud bang.

Upon their arrival at the scene, it was observed that the vandals ripped a light off of the property’s wall, and proceeded to smash it in the street.

The homeowners, who requested to stay anonymous, told www.mobserver.co.za that they were not home at the time of the incident.

The resident said that she suspects it was the unruly behaviour of drunkards who visited a nearby pub.

“We cannot determine how much damages we have sustained until we are at home and can assess it ourselves. But I am sure it was just a bunch of drunkards who thought it would be a good idea to play soccer with one of my lights.”
Mr Louw said that the suspects were gone by the time of their arrival, and therefore remain unknown.
