MHRF elects new leadership, decides to contest 2022 provincial polls

The Middelburg and Hendrina Residents Front, which scored seven council seats during the local government elections, announced that it plans to contest the 2024 national and provincial elections.

The decision was taken during the party’s inaugural elective conference on Saturday.

The party’s new municipal executive committee was also elected during the conference.

Chairperson Jomo Segage, and fellow MHRF founding members, Thato Mathunyane and Cindy Mashabela were elected unopposed to Secretary and Treasurer.

Major changes to the front’s constitution were also made, following a recent spat within its council caucus, leading to the expulsion of founding member Ben Mokoena.

Attending delegates gave newly elected leadership a mandate to engage with civic organizations in Mpumalanga, to establish the Mpumalanga Residents Front, in order to contest the provincial polls in two years.

A decision was, however, taken that the MHRF would keep its autonomy within its municipal boundaries.

The newly elected Executive Committee of the Middelburg and Hendrina Residents Front, are Chairperson: Jomo Segage, Deputy Chairperson: Sipho Masimola, Treasurer: Cindy Mashabela, Secretary: Thato Mathunyane, Deputy Secretary: Deliwe Maseko, Organiser: Phillip Mogola and Additional Members: Gugu Nkosi and Rudolph Uys.
