Newtown double-stabbing victims identified
Two men were fatally stabbed last Sunday in Newtown, Mhluzi.
Sam Nkaleshane and Isaya Jiyane, who was a truck driver, were stabbed to death last Sunday morning.
Mr Nkaleshane and Mr Jiyane reportedly argued with another man about ‘a parking space’ when the stabbing occurred. Both men were stabbed in the neck and died on the scene.
Mr Jiyane’s brother, Musawenkosi, said when the incident occurred his brother was visiting him for the weekend, “Everyone is shocked by his passing.
Isaya was such a calm, humble and honest person that didn’t like being involved in altercations. Everyone is deeply hurt by the manner in which my brother was murdered,” the bereaved brother said.
The father of two was a long-distance truck driver and lived in Mhluzi and KwaZulu-Natal during his days off.
He is survived by his two daughters, siblings and parents.
Mr Jiyane was buried on December 17 in KwaZulu-Natal.
• The family of Mr Nkaleshane declined to comment about the matter.
Mr Nkaleshane was laid to rest on December 17 in Standerton.
• Shortly after the murders, a suspect handed himself over to the police.
Branco Saneto Fulane (27) appeared in the Middelburg Magistrates’ Court last Monday. The matter was postponed for a formal bail application.
