Traffic officer celebrated at memorial service

Grief-stricken family members, friends and colleagues filled up the Public Works Hall at the memorial service for Gijimane July Nkabinde (57) this morning.

Mr Nkabinde sadly lost his life on Monday evening after being hit by a truck whilst on duty.

Mr Nkabinde joined the Mpumalanga Traffic Department in 1988, shortly after that, he was stationed in Delmas and worked for the overload control unit.

Mr Nkabinde worked for the traffic department for 35 years before his untimely death.

In February 2000, he relocated to Middelburg and worked mainly at the weighbridge, sometimes attending to accident scenes and other traffic duties.

His colleagues described him as a calm, peaceful and bubbly person who was hardworking and dedicated to his job.

Colleagues celebrated the life of the beloved Gijimane July Nkabinde.

Mr Nkabinde is survived by his mother, wife, and two children.
