Body of unknown man found in river

Another body has been retrieved by divers from the Klein Olifants River.

The body of a man was found in the Klein Olifants River near Vloed Street in Eastdene on Monday at about 19:30.

Due to the heavy floods, the body was seen floating facedown along the river by a passer-by, who then contacted the police.

The dead man has been transported to the Middelburg Forensic Pathology Department for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been opened by the police.

Anyone who might have a missing family member is urged to visit the Middelburg Police Station.

• In January, the body of another man was also retrieved by police divers at the low-water bridge near Koppie Street.
