Stolen bakkie recovered on the Loskop road

A 34-year-old man was arrested on Friday after he was found with a stolen bakkie.

According to a press statement, the police received a complaint from Car Tracker that a Toyota Hilux bakkie that was stolen in eMalahleni was travelling on the Loskop road.

The Middelburg Flying Squad investigated the matter and subsequently arrested the suspect.

The suspect is currently facing a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear before the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, March 13.

In a separate incident:

The Middelburg Flying Squad recovered an unlicensed 9 mm pistol with a magazine and eight live rounds, today (Sunday).

The police received a complaint about a person being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

When the police arrived at the scene, the suspect fled.

The police confiscated the weapon.
