A woman who drove past a pedestrian accident in Eastdene involving a young boy is hoping his parents will reach out to her and allow her an act of kindness.

The woman says that the accident happened in Verdoorn Street (near the entrance to Eastdene Shopping Centre close to the Spice Rack) at 17:00 on Tuesday afternoon, when a vehicle struck a young boy on foot.

Although she didn’t witness the accident, it happened moments before her arrival, because the boy, who she guesses to be about seven-years-old, was lying in the street wailing, and no emergency services were present.

Her instinct was to stop and comfort him, but bystanders from the Eastdene Centre were already on the scene directing traffic and told her to keep driving.

The woman said that the accident deeply troubled her, and she would like to reach out to his parents to do something kind for him.

“I posted on Facebook about the accident, hoping someone could help me track the family down, and people who were at the scene replied in the comments that he suffered abrasions and went home with his parents.”

She is hoping that his parents will contact her so that she can do something kind in the hope that it will help him feel better.

“I can only imagine that the accident was traumatising for him, so I would like to do something that will make his heart feel better. He is still just a child.”
