Members from Middelburg Flying Squad arrested four suspects, aged between 24 and 27 after allegedly finding them with a firearm (Uzi) as well as ammunition on Saturday afternoon.
According to a media statement, four suspects were reportedly travelling in a blue VW Polo when they were stopped by the squad at 13:40. This was followed by a search whereby the firearm as well as live ammunition were found in their possession.
The four were arrested and charged for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Three of the suspects are Mozambican nationals and one a South African citizen.
The Police are collaboratively working with officials from the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain their status in the country.
More charges could possibly be added against them with regard to the contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa. Should it be discovered that they do not possess valid documentation thereof.
Meanwhile the seized firearm will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether it was not used in the commission of crime elsewhere. Police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against them as the probe continues.
The four are expected to appear at the Ogies Magistrate’s Court on Monday , 20 March facing the said charges.
