Middelburg seems to remain peaceful amid the national shutdown lead by the EFF with strike action brewing on the outskirts.

Burning tyres have been used to barricade the entrance to Dhuva.

Patrol feedback reports that the N4 is clear with a police roadblock situated after the Middelburg Toll Plaza, where vehicles are stopped and inspected.

Despite earlier reports of action, it has recently been confirmed that Mhluzi and the N11 (Groblersdal) near Doornkop is clear.

The rest of town remains peaceful including the N11 to Hendrina, although earlier reports were received that shots were fired near the Total Garage and closer to Columbus Stainless, the strike action has subsided.

Community members were actively patrolling the town over the weekend during which a mass clean-up of tyres and posters occurred.
