Reports from the ground suggest that everything is peaceful, though police remain on high alert.

All routes into and out of town is open.

Municipal cleaners are out and about, and garbage trucks are mobile.

Many residents reported for work without incident.

Businesses in the Middelburg Mall has also not reported any incidents.

Residents are calling the planned shutdown “a monumental flop”.
