Huge tree crashes through wall

Tree unexpectedly collapsed.

A massive tree fell on a resident’s garden wall and onto Protea Road in Kanonkop yesterday.

According to a municipal worker at the scene, the tree was thought to be rotten from old age, which led to its sudden uprooting.

Several other municipal workers were at the scene, clearing a path for oncoming traffic, as the tree had sprawled onto one side of the road.

Municipal workers at the scene trimmed the tree and cleaned the road of debris.

One of the homeowners was in his vehicle when the tree came down, he described the incident as, “Shocking, it just came out of nowhere!”

Pieces of the gigantic tree made their way into the neighbouring yard, causing a slight inconvenience.

Taking into account the size of the tree, it is fortunate no one was injured during the incident.
