Police investigate school robbery incident
The suspects made off with thousands of rands belonging to Bright Star Private School.
The two suspects captured on CCTV footage stealing a laptop bag full of money last Friday near the new FNB branch in the CBD are still at large.
No arrests have been made yet.
Bright Star Private School said it is waiting for forensic reports to hopefully determine the suspects’ identities.
When asked about suspicions that the theft might be an inside job, the school said it is aware of the claims and the police are investigating the matter.
In the video footage obtained by the Middelburg Observer, a white Mahindra bakkie is seen reversing into a parking space outside a pawn shop.

As soon as the driver of the bakkie, who works for Bright Start Private School, opens his door, two men standing in the parking area are seen rushing towards the bakkie. The men then grab a black laptop bag and flee towards Cowen Ntuli Street.
Residents are urged to be on the lookout for the two suspects.
