One person shot in diesel robbery gone wrong

A thorough investigation of the scene is currently underway.

One person has been killed in a shootout between members of the SAPS and a group of robbers on the R555 Stoffberg Road.

According to information gathered at the scene, the shootout followed after the group of suspects tried to rob a diesel tanker roughly 15 km out of Middelburg.

The SAPS foiled the robbery, leading to the shootout.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, Provincial Spokesperson for the SAPS, a statement will be released at a later stage.

Forensic Pathology is at the scene and a thorough investigation is currently underway. Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution.
