Police not aware of the ‘blue light gang’

A message has been making rounds on social media sites about the ‘blue light gang’ operating between Wonderfontein and Carolina.

The message states that the gang uses a Toyota bakkie to stop unsuspecting motorists.

The gang is known for impersonating police officers and driving cars fitted with police blue lights.

The viral messages also urged motorists using the N4 to drive to the nearest police station if they encounter the vehicle.

• Mpumalanga Police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the police have not received any complaints and no case was opened with the police recently.
