A weekend of triumph for cyclists

The Middelburg Cycling Club are celebrating a weekend of triumph after several cyclists participated in the Mpumalanga XCO Championships in Mbombela.

Marcel De Villiers, Piet Swanepoel and Thinus Jacobs all placed in the top three, with Thinus coming first in the sub-veteran men’s division and Marcel first with Piet second in the grand masters.

Their victories has placed the cyclists on the shortlist for the upcoming South African Championships.

Thinus jacobs placed first in the sub-vet division.

• The celebrations are shared with the successful participation of two locals at the 2023 Triathlon and Duathlon World Championships.

Sanet Griesel ended in third place in the 50 to 54 year age group in the triathlon championships.

Meanwhile, Cobus Fourie, participated in two duathlon events, finishing in 12 and 27th place.
