Diana is a physiotherapist who has a deep love for the Loskop Marathon. She first attended the race as a physio student in 2006 working at the 40km water point.

After she completed her studies, she relocated to eMalahleni in 2009, where she immediately rekindled her love of the race and became involved, not as a physio student, but as a professional physiotherapist.

Her rise through the ranks was as swift as it was impressive, and by 2013 she had taken over as the organiser of all the Loskop Marathon Physio Stations.
Diana had not run the race herself yet, instead, she selflessly aided others in their pursuit of crossing the finishing line.

In 2015, Diana finally decided it was her time to get her very own long sleeve shirt, a dream she had not given up on for almost a decade.
She completed the race and finally got her shirt, and has since added four more, having completed the 50km Ultra Marathon five times.

She returned to her role as a physio at this year’s race, a role she too also had dreamed of achieving.

Diana’s childhood physio, affectionately known as “Tannie Charlie”, was seen as a magician by Diana, “She could fix any injury or stop any pain, it was amazing.”

By becoming a physiotherapist and completing the Loskop Marathon, Diana has managed to achieve two of her dreams.

The Middelburg Observer asked Diana what her role at this year’s race meant to her, “As a physio, it is an honour to be associated with this race, Hein Koch and his team do excellent work to stage a remarkable marathon.”

The Observer then asked her if the long sleeve shirt was worth it, “Absolutely, yes!”
