Unlawful scrap dealer shut down

An alleged illegal scrap metal dealer was shut down by Municipal Law Enforcement Officers in Hlalamnandi yesterday.

According to a statement issued by the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, the dealer was issued with notices for non-compliance on a number of transgressions and not adhering to the municipal by-laws.

MMC for Community Safety, Cllr Bathobile Shabangu issued a stern warning that law enforcement officers are ready and willing to shut down unlawful scrap and metal dealers.

“Residents are encouraged to bring forth, any information of businesses that do not comply with the law, to assist the Law Enforcement Officers to do their work better,” the MMC concluded.
