
The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality has responded to the potential sinkhole threat on Lilian Ngoyi Street, declaring the road safe.
Municipal workers closed a portion of the left-hand lane of the road yesterday morning and excavated the area.
The municipality acted due to a high number of complaints from concerned residents about the deformed area of the road found between McDonald’s and the Oaks Shopping Centre.
A member of the roads department told the Middelburg Observer that there were no issues or potential risks found.
