An accident involving two vehicles took place on the N11, near Doornkop at roughly 21:00.

The front of a blue vehicle collided with the back of a red Volkswagen, leaving four injured. Two of the accident victims were immediately rushed to the hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

A father was driving with his six-year-old son in the red vehicle, with the young boy suffering minor injuries. His father however, was severely injured and waited over a half an hour for an ambulance to arrive.

Still strapped to his car chair, the father was left outside next to his vehicle as he struggled to breathe and communicate with those around him.

His brother arrived at the scene before the ambulance, and in an attempt to keep his brother conscious he spoke with the injured father until the ambulance arrived.

The passenger of the blue vehicle was seen laying in the street, having allegedly been launched through the front windscreen upon impact. She was immediately taken to the hospital due to the extent of her injuries.

The cause of the accident is currently unclear, however, it is alleged that the driver of the blue vehicle was intoxicated. The driver behaved erratically at the scene, as he climbed back into the damaged car and huddled up for “Warmth”, despite being injured himself

The six-year-old was cared to by his uncle and the police and will be taken to hospital as a precaution.
