According to information gathered at the scene, the truck involved allegedly drove in the wrong lane before ploughing over the oncoming Isuzu. The accident occurred close to the Vodacom tower.

The R555 was closed off to free the Isuzu driver from the crushed vehicle, who has reportedly sustained severe injuries to his legs with a possibility of internal trauma. He was rushed to hospital.

Eye witness accounts allege that the truck driver fled the scene on foot.
