Manhunt on for truck arsonist caught on dash-cam footage
Dash-cam footage captured the entire incident.

Clear dash-cam footage taken from one of the four trucks set alight on the N2 near Sheepmoor between Piet Retief and Ermelo early this morning, clearly shows the face of the culprit, and modus operandi employed by the arsonists, in their ongoing siege of road freight transporters.
A total of 21 trucks have been torched in Mpumalanga, KZN and Limpopo, resulting in police ordering roadblocks on all major transport routes, in order to stop the economic sabotage, which could result in severe shortages of goods around South Africa.
More than 80% of South African goods is transported by road freight.
In this morning’s second Mpumalanga attack, a female passenger, asleep in one of the trucks, sustained burn wounds after culprits set fire to the cabin with her inside.
Three of the five trucks set alight this morning, were destroyed while the remaining two sustained serious cabin damage.
On Sunday morning, six trucks with goods were targeted and set alight on the N3 in Van Reenen’s Pass.Hours later, five trucks were torched on the N4 at Waterval Onder.
The arsonists targeting the Waterval Onder trucks ordered the drivers from their cabins and demanded their Identity Documents before setting fire to the cabins.
Limpopo police revealed that three trucks were burnt in Sekhukhune on the R547 Lydenburg road early Monday.KZN police confirmed that another two trucks had been targeted on the N2 while waiting in a queue.
In all the incidents, the arsonists followed the exact same modus operandi, by suddenly appearing from hiding, either confronting the drivers of stationary trucks, or alternatively forcing the trucks to stop.
They then order the drivers from the vehicles, in some instances stealing the ID’s, and setting the truck cabins alight.
In the dash-cam footage obtained this morning, a single culprit can be clearly identified.A national manhunt for the arsonist is now underway.
Police say there’s still no apparent link between the cross-border attacks, but investigations continue, meanwhile, Acsu Security from Ermelo and Hendrina is appealing to the public to identify the N2 arsonist caught on dash-cam so that he could be brought to justice.
Anyone with information should contact Acsu Security on 072 236 7192, or their nearest police station.
