No sign of missing 80-year-old

The search for a missing senior citizen has intensified as his family enters the second day since his disappearance.

80-year-old Jeff Clapperton was last seen on Sunday morning when he left the plot he lives on to go to the Spar at Crescent Complex in eMalahleni.
The plot Jeff lives on is situated on the R555 (old Witbank road) roughly eight kilometres outside eMalahleni.

Jeff never made his arrival at Spar, nor the ATM he would have stopped at to make a withdrawal.

Jeff’s daughter, Jayne Lombaard (from Middelburg), said that her father is completely coherent, and does not suffer any memory-related illnesses like Alzheimer’s or Dementia.

He was driving a white Hyundai Atos Prime, registration: FJX072MP, and is suspected to have been wearing a black or grey tracksuit.
He also has faded tattoos on both arms.

Jayne explained that the family paid a visit to Jeff’s home on the plot to look for any traces of what might have happened to him, but that everything was found to be in place.
“He didn’t run off because everything is sill there.”

The family are also concerned over the fact that a withdrawal of funds was made from his account at 08:45 the morning, while CCTV footage of the ATM where he usually makes his transactions shows he was never there.

“We are on our way to the bank this morning to see if they can trace where the withdrawal was made from.”

• A missing person’s case was opened yesterday at the Witbank SAPS.

Should anyone have information on Jeff’s whereabouts, they are urged to please call Jayne or Daymond Lombaard at 082 853 0944 or 082 821 0309.
