Mr D delivery man dies in late afternoon accident
A delivery man from Mr D died earlier tonight after his motorcycle was hit by a truck.
The 35-year-old man was turning from Hexrivier Street onto Dr Mandela Drive when he was hit by the oncoming truck. Due to the force of the impact, the driver was flung from the bike and died instantly.
About 30 delivery men from Takealot went to the scene after they heard about the accident, including Mr Ronald Cossa, who nearly collapsed when he heard that his brother, José Ndikara, had died in the accident.
He told the journalist that they came to South Africa in 2011 and were living together, first in Pretoria, and then for the last few months in Middelburg.
“How am I going to get his body in Mozambique where our other brothers are staying?”
Mr Thys Horak was also at the accident scene and was equally shocked when he found out José had died, “He got his bike on January 18 when I gave it to him after our Rent to Own transaction. He did not have a bike helmet and I gave him one.”
It was a 125cc Honda Ace.
Mr Horak mentioned that José was doing deliveries for Mr D at night and was also a driver for the Bolt Taxi Service during the day.
