Several people killed in horrifying accident on R555
Eight people have reportedly died in a serious accident between a truck and a bus on the R555 Roossenekal to Steelpoort road.
According to the Steelburger, a Nnyana Shakwana Bus and an SB Trading truck collided at 06:30 this morning (Thursday).
BGF Magazine reported that eight people have died, two people have sustained serious injuries, and six people have sustained minor injuries.
The bus is presumed to have been carrying workers from Mototolo Mine.
The incident took place at the Tubatse Ferrochrome entrance before Steelpoort, roughly two hours outside Middelburg.
Emergency Medical Services and SAPS officials are currently at the scene, with the road closed until further notice.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes if travelling in the area, with WhatsApp groups, such as the Dagpatrollie and Traffic Alert, informing local residents of the accident.
