Shameless thieves attempt to steal Police Commander’s vehicle tyres

Brazen thieves targeted the vehicle of Middelburg Police Station Commander Brigadier Thandi Jiyani.

In the early hours of today (Thursday), thieves attempted to steal the wheels of Brigadier Jiyani’s Toyota Fortuner in Kanonkop.

Brig. Jiyani told the Middelburg Observer that she heard noises outside her house, prompting her son to investigate.

They then noticed the tyres were missing from her vehicle.

She alerted all the security groups, including the SAPS, Dagpatrollie, and Radio Group Sector 4, who helped to search for the thieves.

During the search, they found the suspects had hidden the tyres behind some bushes in Brig. Jiyani’s yard before fleeing the scene.

She will be opening an attempted theft case with the Middelburg Police.

Fortunately, her vehicle was not damaged during the attempted theft.

This is the second break-in this week in Kanonkop.

Arthur Hill from the Dagpatrollie received an alert about another attempted break-in in the area also in the earlier hours of this morning.

While attending to the alert, they received the tip that suspects had stolen tyres from the brigadier’s vehicle.

No arrests have been made yet.
