Suspect appears in court after allegedly killing a farm guard

The victim's father would often visit his son daily, and it was during this period when this gruesome discovery was made.

A 23-year-old suspect, known as Zwelithini Mtsweni, appeared at Belfast Magistrate’s Court after handing himself over to the Police in Belfast on Thursday, July 4, after farm guard (44) was murdered inside a room at his workplace.

According to information, the victim was found by his family members, lying motionless in a pool of blood on Tuesday, July 2.

Police, as well as the medical personnel, were informed about the incident, however, the victim was unfortunately declared dead by the medical practitioners.

Two days later, the suspect reportedly handed himself over to the police in Belfast in connection with Tuesday’s murder.

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested and during his court appearance on Friday, July 5, the matter was postponed to July 12.

The suspect will remain in custody until then.

The Acting Provincial of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi has welcome the arrest and emphasised that the police will work hard to ensure that justice is served for the victim’s family.
