Two men killed in early morning crash, resulting in temporary road closure

Serious injuries resulted in the fatalities

Two men were killed in a horrific collision in Dr Mandela Drive around 05:00 this morning.

The accident happened next to Roberts Estate close to the Federale Stene turnoff.

According to sources on the scene of the accident, a VW Golf collided head-on with with a 22-seater bus, transporting employees to their job site.

The bus and Golf collided head-on after the Golf allegedly sideswiped another vehicle, a Quantum, before veering into the oncoming lane.

The Golf was traveling towards Mhluzi, with the bus heading in the opposite direction.

ER24, Watco and Ringani ambulance services offered assistance on the scene, but sadly both occupants of the Golf could not be saved.

Three occupants of the bus, two males and a female, were seriously injured and transported to hospital.

The road was temporarily closed, and vehicles were only allowed passage shortly before 09:00 according to David Ross of Roos Towing Services.

A culpable homicide investigation is underway.
