In pictures: Ward 10 by-elections in full swing

It’s all systems go at the Ward 10 by-elections currently underway at the Eastdene Community Hall and Hlalamnandi.

The voting stations opened their doors early this morning, and voting will continue until 21:00 tonight, after which the official vote counting will begin.

The newly elected councillor will be responsible for representing Eastdene, Hlalamnandi, and parts of Rondebosch.

When the Middelburg Observer visited the voting stations, various political parties were present, and the areas were being monitored by the police.

These by-elections follow the passing of ANC Ward Councillor Gift Maseko earlier this year after a long illness.

The MK Party, a newcomer to the election, is represented by Xolani Meshack Shambell.

The EFF candidate is Gift Tshehla, and the ANC’s candidate is Macaleni Paulos Mnisi.

Ena Pilodia is representing the MHRF.

The DA is not contesting the ward.

The vote counting is expected to conclude tonight.
