Eight athletes finished in the top five, 13 athletes in the top 10, and 20 athletes in the top 20 at the Mpumalanga Cross Country Championships held at Curro Nelspruit on Saturday, August 17.

Emmanuel Mabaso, the chairperson of the academy, said the organisation is facing challenges sourcing funds to pay for the 50 athletes representing the province.

“It’s been quite a financially challenging year with the Interprovincial, Mpumalanga Championship, and South African Championships within a short space of time; however, it has been rewarding in terms of performance. Our aim is to raise R50 000 and send a strong team to the North West.”
