One killed in weekend traffic chaos

Two accidents on the Van Dyksdrift road between the N4 and Naledi have claimed one life over the weekend.

According to local tow truck driver David Ross, the driver of a taxi escaped with injuries after the taxi he was driving had a blowout, causing it to overturn shortly before 07:00 this morning.

No other vehicles were involved, and the taxi was empty at the time of the accident.

• Ross added that this morning’s accident took place in the same location that claimed the life of a young driver on Friday evening.

According to Ross, the VW Polo rolled, and the driver was flung from the vehicle. The Polo caught fire, and the driver sustained burns in the collision. He succumbed to his injuries.

• Another accident occurred yesterday morning on the R35 near Komati Power Station.

According to Edward Klopper from Mid Towing, the accident only involved a truck, which overturned.
Klopper stated that it appeared the truck veered off the road, struck a ditch, and overturned.

The driver survived but sustained injuries.
