99% chance of rain, thunderstorm also expected

Multiple weather forecasts predict rainfall to head Middelburg’s way this afternoon.

Weather.com has predicted a 99% chance of rain this afternoon, with the possibility of a thunderstorm and frequent lightning.

The storm and accompanying rainfall are expected to begin at 13:00 and kick into fifth gear by 16:00.

This follows last night’s rain, with a Kanonkop resident measuring 20mm of rainfall over a 24-hour period from 06:00 yesterday to this morning.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) predicts 10mm of rainfall today, with only a 60% chance of rain.

However, the SAWS Radar Storm Tracker shows no sign of a storm, as seen below:

AccuWeather’s probability of precipitation is at 75%, with rain expected to peak at 16:00.

AccuWeather also believes thunderstorms are expected this evening at 23:00.

Sunny skies are expected to return tomorrow.
