A man, his wife and three of their children tragically passed away last night in a head-on collision with a truck.

The accident happened around 19:30 close to Patatasnek on the Schoemanskloof road heading to Mbombela.

According to police reports a fourth child was rushed to hospital in Mbombela after surviving the horror crash.

Family members are supporting the survivor at hospital.

Sources say the double-cab bakkie and truck crashed head-on, and all five victims were declared dead on the scene.

The identities of the crash victims have not been released.

Since Friday last week, numerous people were killed in accidents in Middelburg and the town’s surrounding areas.
