Truck plunges into water, extraction of driver underway

Busy weekend on roads

The weekend was once again marred by a number of avoidable accidents.

Residents hope that the new flexi-shift standby roster for traffic officers launched on Friday at the Middelburg Tollplaza, will help alleviate the ongoing slaughter on our roads.

The latest accident involves a truck.

Emergency services are on scene to tend to the trapped driver.

The driver was trapped in the cabin when the vehicle plunged into a body of water next to the road.

No deaths have been reported.
