Chery breaks barriers with Tiggo Cross SUV

This SUV not only delivers in the looks department but also packs a mean punch under the hood.

Eastvaal Chery Middelburg stepped out on Friday with the launch of the brand new Chery Tiggo Cross at Gail’s Venue, with the sassy addition to the Chery brand sure to turn heads, while alleviating pressure on the wallet.

Launching for under R500 000, the Tiggo Cross is geared to take a grand stand in the SUV market, with two trim grades available in the Comfort and Elite models.

The Tiggo Cross made its formal introduction as Chery’s improvisation between the Tiggo 4 Pro and the Tiggo 7 Pro, with a more tech-savvy design to cement Chery’s footprint in the SUV market.
The Tiggo Cross seamlessly combines affordability with the latest technology, boasting a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, that puts out 108kW of horsepower.

The vehicle is propelled by the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and offers several enhanced features, including flexible cruise control and a front ventilated disc brake system, coupled with rear disc brakes.

The Tiggo Cross comes standard with a front collision warning indicator as well as automatic blind spot detection, lane departure warning and intelligent high beam control, among other advanced driver assistant advantages.

Additional security features include traction and hill descent controls, combined with dual front, front side, side curtain and seat splitting airbags.

The Tiggo Cross sports a dual 10.25-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto adaptability, fused with a six-speaker sound system.

Keyless entry and push-button start, leather seats, a wireless smartphone charger and a drive mode selector with Eco, Normal and Sport settings, add to the advanced luxury features of the Tiggo Cross.

The latest Chery offering not only smashes the pricing ceiling but includes financing benefits like Chery’s 5-year/60 000km service plan and 5-year/150 000km vehicle warranty, as well as an original owner 10-year/1-million kilometre engine warranty, with financing handled efficiently and expediently inhouse at Eastvaal Chery Middelburg.

At a highly competitive R399 900 for the Tiggo Cross 1.5 T-GDI Comfort DCT, and R449 900 for the Tiggo Cross 1.5 T-GDI Elite, any other alternative to the Tiggo Cross comes as a hard sell.
Fortunately for the Tiggo Cross, the exterior equals its interior, safety features and technological advances, including body colour door mirrors, door handles, frameless front wiper, shark fin antenna, electric sunroof, roof rack and even an engine cover with logo.
